It’s pandemonium out there, shelves at grocery stores are cleared and checkout lines were about 20 people long. They’re predicting potentially two more “events,” this next one offering fresh snow plus 35 mph winds, and the city is expecting various power outages. Basically, it’ll snow from Noon Friday through noon Saturday.
We picked up some necessary supplies: beer and some garlic bread. I also grabbed some cat litter and the last box of salt they had so my mailman doesn’t crack his head open on my steps.

they are saying the storm totals for this last storm at some elevations in 130 inches. 10...feet

I’m not worried. Gonna hit up the Costco tomorrow afternoon for groceries and then checking in at the O’Reilly in Silver Lake to see if they stock tow straps.
Meanwhile I just got my paycheck. $650, which is $150 more than usual because overtime. That’ll be useful.
I’m looking forward to chugging along in the powder. Do you know any good wide open parking lots in Everett for snownuts, Zoid?

I’m screwed.

Meanwhile over here we might get an inch. Maybe. This winter has been a weird one.

You can go an entire week on 2 tortillas. Now if you had just one, you’re totally screwed.

How upright is Boeing these days? They certainly have a big lot.

There is two people here! I will have to hide the food from my wife. When society breaks down, that includes the idea of Marriage.
Every man/woman/child for themselves.

I like how Olympia is safe :p
something something about the government lol
The worst part is all the fucking salt they put on the snow. Do they use as much salt as they use on teh east coast?

I’m not sure, and I don't feel inclined to trespass on a business property where I might work in the future as a machinist.

In that case RIP COFL

The parking lot adjoining the 10th Street boat launch?
![]() 02/07/2019 at 22:10 |

nope, thankfully. Also, make use of the car washes that are equipped for underbody cleaning. You'll thank me later. The General on Evergreen offers underbody washes, I think.

You have sledding equipment?

You weren’t joking. Went to Fred Meyer, saw the parking l ot, and drove home. I’ll try again at 9:30
![]() 02/07/2019 at 22:19 |

Yeah that's the ticket. Sometimes they try to break it with "go away you damn kids" signs. YMMV

No :(
![]() 02/07/2019 at 22:21 |

I didn’t know any car washes did that! Not that I ever wash my cars, but still.
I can’t
believe there are no places that do Krown in NJ, NYC, LI, or Philly! Krown also makes a good salt eliminator product
![]() 02/07/2019 at 22:24 |

One way to clean your own car is to get an underbody wand attachment for water hoses. The important part is getting the salt off the car, minimizing the risk of structural rust.

Good luck, cardboard and other such things can be used to sled in a jiffy. On a related note Facebook was just reminding me that the snowpocalypse here on the east coast was like 9 years ago.

Just go to a Costco. :p

This is why I see moments like a snowstorm a Mad Max scenario.
I WILL BARRICADE MYSELF IN A ROOM.
![]() 02/07/2019 at 22:54 |

That explains why Freddie's was so busy here too. I just wanted dinner for tonight and some ice cream. But I had to deal with OTHER PEOPLE! It was hell.

But I can't... Drive anywhere ... :(
![]() 02/07/2019 at 22:56 |

I just need to barricade my wife in a room. Then I win

The worst thing about other people is that they're there.

I spoke with him earlier. JKM says hi.

Yep, went to Costco for a couple of things and the lines were out of control. Had some geriatric try to pass about four of us and I asked her if she was waiting i n line too. She reversed and looked for a shorter line.

I t took me over 2.5 hours to get home and it’s not supposed to snow until TOMORROW. We have successfully pushed full on snow panic to start a full 24 hours before the predicted event...

Why are you grey?
![]() 02/07/2019 at 23:40 |

not sure... I seem to get grey’d every so often... my payment to the oppo overlords bounced.

For a more southerly alternative, the giant aerospace contractor parking lots along airport road. Go stop by randy’s ring and pinion. Or go to the boeing plant lots. Space for days son

That would be a better option than wrangling my way through north Everett, yes.

We got snowed in at New Years down here and these dudes were pulling a sled of beer past my house.

I had to re-stock the snackbar at work tonight. I went to Costco without even thinking of the pending snowdoom. SO. MANY. PEOPLE.

Bound to be fewer after the storm hits, right? My snow tires will see me through. :v
![]() 02/08/2019 at 02:58 |

If they stay open, go for it! I still have PTSD from 2 years ago when the snow hit as I was leaving work. 7 hours and 15 minutes later I completed my 16 mile commute. Had I known it would be that bad, I would have slept at work.

Fred Meyer and qfc the shelves were bare. It was like some apocalyptic shit. Go to one of the fancier grocery stores if you can’t find things at the usual.
On the plus side there should be food coming in soon, and most people won't be willing to drive through the snow to get to it!
![]() 02/08/2019 at 03:30 |

I found luck at a PCC-like high end grocery store that's open 24/7. 4 pounds of baby back pork ribs are going in the slow cooker, potatoes are ready to be baked tomorrow, cider and whiskey are nearby. I'm ready for the storm!

I might be getting snow tires installed on my car this morning before work. Not even kidding.

We are supposed to be hosting a dinner party tonight—we’ll see if that happens. If no guests come , more fancy dinner and wine for me! (assuming the power stays on).
Also, in case of power outage, the Erstwhile Mrs. RPM bought grillable foods for the weekend, so I look forward to grilling steaks with my feet in the snow tomorrow night.
